Airbrush Tanning

How does airbrush tanning solution work?

The FDA approved active ingredient DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) is a color additive derived from sugar cane and sugar beets that reacts with the proteins in the outermost layer of your skin to produce a golden brown color. This ingredient does not penetrate beyond the dead skin surface layer which is a critical factor when looking for a healthier tanning alternative. DHA has been used safely over the years in numerous sunless tanning products.

We use Sjoie Sunless tanning solution. Sjoie Sunless is made of naturally derived ingredients and is certified vegan. The products are also paraben free, erythrulose free, and fragrance-free.

Our solution allows for more natural color and longer-lasting results than similarly advertised products. Although you see immediate color, it takes 6-8 hours for the reaction to complete and your tan to appear.

How long will my tan last?

Your tan will last between 7 and 10 days, depending on how you care for your skin. The day after you get your tan, we recommend moisturizing daily to extend the life of your tan. You’ll want to avoid exfoliating and taking long hot baths or showers or your tan will fade more quickly. Additionally, you’ll want to avoid extended time in chlorinated pools and hot tubs, as they will bleach your tan very quickly.

How should I prepare to get the best results?

Shower and exfoliate your skin beforehand. Ensure your skin is free of all lotions, oils, gels, or any other products (including foundation if you want your face tanned) that may create a barrier.

Exfoliate using your favorite scrub, loofah, sponge, or scrubbing gloves and scrub in a circular motion from the bottom up. Don’t forget dry areas such as elbows, knees, and bottoms of the feet. Avoid using oil-based exfoliators, since we need to reduce oil build up for better tanning. Sugar, salt, or coffee makes great exfoliators if you’re looking for natural alternatives.

What should I wear?

If you are a woman, you may wear your own undergarments or swimwear (older/darker undergarments are best). If you prefer to have no tan lines, you may also go nude.

If you are a man, we require briefs or bathing suits.

How long does the process take?

The entire process takes less than 30 minutes. It will take about 15 minutes to airbrush your entire body. You will then dry off using warm and cool air for an additional 8-10 minutes.

What should I do after my session?

Wear loose, dark, cotton clothing and sandals for at least 2 hours after your tan, or it may develop very unevenly. Wait at least 9 hours before bathing (overnight is best), and avoid perspiring to allow the solution time to react with the proteins in your skin. When you wake up you will have a beautiful tan!

The Express tan uses a quick dry formula, allowing you to shower in a little as one hour afterwards. You must wash it off within 1-4 hours or the tan may develop unnaturally.

WARNING

This product does not contain a sunscreen and does not protect against sunburn. Repeated exposure of unprotected skin to U.V. Light may increase the risk of skin aging, skin cancer, and other harmful effects to the skin even if you do not burn.

Be advised there is a small percentage of people whose skin may not react favorably to spray tanning. For this reason, we do NOT advise being sprayed for the first time when your appearance is critical (wedding, special occasion, prom). Please schedule a practice session 30 days before your event, for best results.
