At the beginning of the 20th century, average life expectancy was about 48 years. Today, it is about 76 years. Advances in science and technology have prolonged our lifespan, but this also means we are spending more years living with chronic illness. So, while health advances have been successful in increasing the quantity of our lives, they have not necessarily improved our quality of life. Furthermore, we spend more on health care than any other country, yet we rank 38th in terms of life expectancy. 38th!!
The most prevalent illnesses in our society are largely determined by lifestyle. Even though many of these are not completely understood by modern medicine, we do know that we can control many of the risk factors for these conditions by modifying our lifestyle and health habits. Heart Disease, diabetes, and Alzheimers Disease are major causes of death and disability in this country. Learn how to lower your risk of developing these conditions through lifestyle modification.

The final week will be devoted to practical and effective ways to incorporate this knowledge into your life.
